In a recent letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav expressed strong disapproval of the PM’s recent comments made at a rally in Bihar. Tejashwi accused the Prime Minister of making “baseless, factless, and false” statements and questioned the appropriateness of his language.
“Should the language of the Prime Minister of this big-hearted country be like this?” Tejashwi wrote, emphasizing his concern over Modi’s remarks.
The controversy erupted after PM Modi, during his rally, addressed the issue of rights for the SC, ST, and OBC communities. He assured these groups that as long as he is alive, he will protect their rights. Modi said, “For Modi, the Constitution is supreme, for Modi, Babasaheb Ambedkar’s sentiments are supreme… if the INDI alliance wants to accept the servitude of their vote bank, they are free to do so…if they want to perform ‘Mujra’ (dance), they are free to do… I will still stand with the SC, ST, and OBC reservation staunchly.”
Tejashwi responded by accusing the Prime Minister of harboring a “backward and anti-Dalit mentality.” He criticized Modi for ignoring the caste survey conducted by the Bihar government and failing to act on the request to include the survey’s recommendations in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution. “When we came to government in Bihar, we conducted a caste survey at the state’s expense. You were also made aware of its reality,” Tejashwi wrote. “Prime Minister, basically you have a backward and anti-Dalit mentality. You did not give any consideration to this important request of ours.”
