Tejashwi Yadav Slams Centre’s Focus On Waqf Board And ‘Love Jihad’ Laws: Urges Attention To Poverty And Unemployment

By focusing on divisive topics, Yadav argues that the government is diverting attention from more pressing issues such as economic development and poverty alleviation

In response to recent media reports suggesting that the central government may introduce legislation to limit the powers of the Waqf Board over its assets, and with the Uttar Pradesh government proposing severe penalties for ‘love jihad’, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has sharply criticized the Centre’s priorities. Yadav’s remarks come amid growing concerns about the government’s focus on contentious issues rather than addressing pressing socio-economic challenges.

“Centre is not working for public welfare. They have nothing to do with the welfare of the poor of the country, or with inflation, or with poverty, or unemployment,” Yadav asserted. His comments reflect a broader frustration with what he perceives as a lack of substantive action on critical issues affecting ordinary citizens.

Yadav emphasized the need for substantial improvements in public services and economic opportunities. “People should get good education, good health facilities. Factories and industries should be set up in poor states like Bihar,” he stated, criticizing the BJP-led government for what he views as a focus on polarizing issues rather than addressing fundamental economic and social needs.

The potential bill targeting the Waqf Board’s control over its assets and the stringent penalties proposed for ‘love jihad’ are seen by critics as moves to address politically sensitive issues. Yadav’s comments highlight a growing debate about the direction of national policy and the effectiveness of current governance strategies.

By focusing on divisive topics, Yadav argues that the government is diverting attention from more pressing issues such as economic development and poverty alleviation. His call for a shift towards genuine public welfare measures resonates with many who are concerned about the government’s priorities and their impact on the nation’s disadvantaged regions.
