Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde hailed the launch of Tesla’s first showroom in Mumbai, calling it a landmark moment that highlights the state’s growing status as an investment magnet. Emphasizing Maharashtra's leadership in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), Shinde stated that the state offers robust infrastructure and industry-friendly policies that continue to draw global giants.

“It is a big deal that Tesla has opened its showroom in Mumbai. Maharashtra has the highest foreign direct investment (FDI). Maharashtra has good infrastructure... Investors are willing to invest in Maharashtra because the state has become an industry-friendly state,” said Shinde while addressing the media.

In a symbolic gesture reflecting the significance of the event, Eknath Shinde also took a ride in a Tesla car outside the Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai, shortly after the showroom’s launch. The move was widely seen as an endorsement of clean mobility and cutting-edge innovation.

Tesla’s official entry into the Indian market with its Mumbai showroom signals a new phase for the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in the country.
