Amritsar’s Guru Ram Dass International Airport is set to receive two flights carrying 119 Indian migrants deported from the US on February 15 and 16, amid a continued crackdown on illegal immigration by the US authorities.

According to officials cited by Hindustan Times, both flights are scheduled to land at 10:05 PM on their respective dates. Most of the deportees hail from Punjab (67), followed by Haryana (33), Gujarat (8), Uttar Pradesh (3), Maharashtra (2), Goa (2), Rajasthan (2), and one each from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.

The deportees include individuals who entered the US illegally via Mexico and other routes. Reports suggest that some migrants tore up their passports upon arrival in the US, allegedly in an attempt to avoid identification and deportation.

This is the second batch of deportations in recent weeks. On February 5, a US military aircraft carrying 104 illegal immigrants had already landed in Amritsar, marking an intensified effort by US authorities under former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.
