Uddhav Thackeray Issues Stern Warning: ‘Whoever Is The Enemy Of Mumbai Is My Enemy’

Thackeray's visit underscores the ongoing political maneuvering in Maharashtra and national politics, with his remarks highlighting both local and international concerns.

Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray is currently on a three-day visit to New Delhi, engaging with leaders from various political parties and addressing pressing issues in the political landscape. On the second day of his visit, Thackeray made significant remarks, particularly criticizing industrialist Gautam Adani and stressing the importance of Dharavi’s development.

During his interactions with reporters, Thackeray reaffirmed his commitment to protecting Mumbai’s interests. He stated, “Whoever is the enemy of Mumbai is my enemy. I will not allow anyone to dispose of Mumbai.” This statement came in response to ongoing concerns about the redevelopment of Dharavi, a major slum in Mumbai.

Thackeray expressed his dissatisfaction with the current development plans for Dharavi, emphasizing that the Shiv Sena is dedicated to ensuring that the residents of Dharavi receive housing in their existing neighborhoods. He criticized Adani’s involvement in the project, declaring, “We will not allow anything outside the tender from Adani. If the people of Dharavi are branded as illegitimate and thrown elsewhere, we will cancel everything outside the tender when our government comes.”

The Shiv Sena leader also expressed his belief that Sharad Pawar, a senior politician and ally of Adani, would not obstruct Mumbai’s development. Thackeray urged for adherence to the tender process and opposed any actions that could displace Dharavi residents.

In a broader political critique, Thackeray addressed issues beyond Mumbai, including the protection of Hindus in Bangladesh. He criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government for not taking adequate steps to safeguard Hindus facing persecution in Bangladesh. Thackeray stated, “It is Narendra Modi’s job to protect Hindus in Bangladesh. The central government should take steps if there are attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh.”

Thackeray highlighted the importance of addressing such issues in Parliament and cautioned against rising tensions. He remarked, “Examples are Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Israel. The people’s court is supreme. This is a message gone. It is necessary to learn from it.”

On his visit to Delhi, Thackeray also touched on internal political matters, revealing that he had come to discuss the next strategy with the India Alliance. He stressed the need for consensus on the Chief Minister’s post within the Maha Vikas Aghadi, indicating that multiple candidates could be considered for the position.
