The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has once again emphasized the importance of completing the Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) for children who have turned seven years old and have not yet updated their Aadhaar biometrics.
This reminder comes as part of an ongoing effort to ensure the accuracy and validity of Aadhaar records. According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the MBU is an existing requirement under Aadhaar regulations and is crucial for maintaining an updated digital identity as children grow.
Parents and guardians are advised to visit the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra or other designated Aadhaar update centres to complete the process. The update includes capturing a child’s fingerprints, iris scan, and photograph, which were not part of the original Aadhaar enrolment done for children under five years of age.
