Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched a scathing attack on the opposition, accusing them of spreading false narratives about the recently concluded Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. Boasting an unprecedented gathering of 66.3 crore devotees, Yogi claimed that despite the massive scale, the event remained incident-free, with no reports of crime, looting, or kidnappings.
Addressing the media in Prayagraj, Yogi mocked the opposition’s failed attempts to find faults, saying, “They couldn’t spot a single incident even with a binocular and microscope. Instead of appreciating the grand success of Maha Kumbh, they resorted to misinformation and deception.”

The Uttar Pradesh CM specifically targeted the misuse of fake videos by opposition parties, alleging that clips from Kathmandu were falsely portrayed as Prayagraj to tarnish the image of the Kumbh. “A tragic incident did happen that night, and we express our deep sympathy with the victims’ families. But the opposition tried to exploit the situation by circulating unrelated videos to malign Prayagraj,” he stated.
Despite these alleged propaganda efforts, Yogi emphasized that devotees responded with overwhelming numbers, particularly on Mauni Amavasya, when a record-breaking 8 crore pilgrims took a holy dip at Sangam. He declared that the unwavering faith of the people had defeated the opposition’s misinformation campaign, proving that Sanatan Dharma remains unshaken.
With the Maha Kumbh now etched in history as one of the largest gatherings in the world, Yogi’s strong political counterattack signals a deepening rift between the BJP-led government and opposition parties.
