Russian President Vladimir Putin has raised serious concerns about the safety of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump following two separate assassination attempts earlier this year. Speaking at a press conference in Kazakhstan after a summit on Thursday (November 28), Putin expressed his shock over the violent attempts on Trump’s life and stated that he believes the former U.S. president is not safe.
Trump, who has been embroiled in political controversy and a heated election battle, survived an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania in July. In another incident in September, a man was charged with attempted assassination after allegedly positioning himself with a rifle at one of Trump’s golf courses in Florida. These incidents have drawn widespread attention, raising alarms about the growing violence surrounding the former U.S. leader.
Putin, known for his candid remarks on global politics, described the methods used against Trump during his election campaign as “absolutely uncivilised” and “revolting.” The Russian leader condemned the attacks and emphasized that such actions were beyond the limits of political rivalry. “In my opinion, he [Trump] is not safe now,” Putin said. “Unfortunately, in the history of the United States various incidents have happened. I think he [Trump] is intelligent and I hope he’s cautious and understands this.”
Putin, who has often been at odds with the U.S. over various international matters, went on to say that not even the most hardened criminals in Russia would resort to such extreme measures. His comments highlight the deepening tensions and growing concerns over the escalation of violence in U.S. political circles.
Further discussing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Putin linked the recent escalation of the war to the Biden administration’s policies, which have allowed Ukraine to strike Russia using Western-made missiles. He speculated that the situation might be a strategic move either to aid Trump politically or to make his potential return to power more difficult. Putin hinted that Moscow is ready for dialogue but stressed that the future of U.S.-Russia relations is uncertain.
Despite his concerns over Trump’s safety and the geopolitical tensions, Putin offered a note of cautious optimism for future relations with the U.S., stating, “I believe Trump will find the solution” and that Russia is prepared to engage in dialogue, whatever the circumstances.
This chilling admission from Putin underscores the high-stakes nature of the upcoming U.S. elections and the growing global uncertainty surrounding them.
