'We Will Not Bow Down': Abhishek Banerjee Dares BJP After Meeting Chief Election Commissioner

Trinamool Congress National General Secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee launched a fierce political attack on the BJP after meeting the Chief Election Commissioner of India on Tuesday, asserting that the people of West Bengal would once again reject what he called pressure politics and misuse of power.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Banerjee said Bengalis cannot be intimidated and will never surrender to threats or central agencies. He claimed that despite the BJP deploying every possible resource and institution at its disposal, the ruling party in the state would emerge victorious yet again.

Banerjee reminded the BJP of its repeated electoral defeats in West Bengal, citing losses in 2012, 2021 and 2024, and declared that history would repeat itself in the 2026 Assembly elections as well. He said the Trinamool Congress draws its strength from the mandate of the people and not from power corridors.

Emphasising democratic values, the TMC leader said his party bows only to the will of the people and not to those holding authority. He added that the people of Bengal would deliver a decisive verdict, defeating the BJP “lock, stock and barrel,” regardless of the pressure mounted during the election process.
