In a powerful statement on the ongoing Vice Presidential election, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu criticized the opposition for fielding an unexpected candidate. Speaking to the media, Naidu emphasized the importance of alliance loyalty, stating, “How can they expect? We are in an alliance; how can it be expected that we will support another candidate?”
Naidu reiterated that the TDP’s primary responsibility is toward the Telugu community, highlighting the party’s consistent focus on regional interests. “Telugu Desam Party is for Telugu community. That is a different issue. We are in alliance. Our party is having ethics, credibility. We have built this credibility over a period of five decades,” he asserted, underlining the party’s long-standing reputation and principled approach in politics.
The CM made it clear that his stance on the Vice Presidential election has been consistent from the beginning. He praised the NDA candidate, CP Radhakrishnan, calling him the “best candidate everybody has to support.” Naidu stressed the significance of the post, noting that holding the Vice Presidency is a “very dignified post” and that majority support ensures a comfortable victory.
Turning his criticism toward the opposition, he questioned their motives, asking, “Why did they bring another candidate now? Is it necessary? That is their politics. But we are not playing politics here. We are having majority, we are going to win comfortably.”
