The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has targeted Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of arrogance towards senior Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa during a light-hearted exchange over punctuality. The BJP’s IT cell head, Amit Malviya, shared a video of the interaction on social media platform X, claiming that Gandhi’s demeanor was disrespectful towards the veteran Congress leader.
Malviya, on Tuesday, posted the video and wrote, “Gurdaspur Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa points out Rahul Gandhi for his lack of discipline. In response, Rahul Gandhi reacts to the senior leader with noticeable attitude and arrogance. It is not the first time Rahul Gandhi has subjected a senior Congress legislator from Punjab to such ignominy.”
In the video clip, Randhawa and Gandhi can be seen engaging in a conversation about punctuality after a meeting of Congress MPs in the Lok Sabha. Gandhi is heard advising Randhawa, saying, “You have to come to the meeting on time. Don’t make excuses.”
Randhawa quickly responds, “I came on time. You were late. I came before you.” The exchange ends with both leaders laughing, joined by Congress general secretary KC Venugopal, who also appeared to find humor in the moment.
Earlier that day, Gandhi had chaired a meeting of Congress MPs to strategize for the ongoing winter parliamentary session. The opposition has been vocal in its protests against the government, demanding a discussion on allegations of bribery involving industrialist Gautam Adani. In turn, the ruling NDA has accused Congress leaders of collaborating with billionaire investor George Soros in efforts to destabilize the country.
While the exchange between Gandhi and Randhawa was light-hearted and jovial, the BJP’s accusations have added fuel to the ongoing political tensions between the ruling party and the opposition.
