9 Budgets, 0 Promises Fulfilled? Akhilesh Yadav Slams BJP For ‘Betraying’ Farmers In UP Budget

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the BJP government over the Uttar Pradesh budget, accusing it of failing to deliver on key promises made to farmers.

Yadav pointed out that despite nine state budgets, several commitments from the BJP’s manifesto remain unfulfilled.

"BJP mentioned in their manifesto that in the next five years, they will provide free electricity to farmers for irrigation. They promised ₹25,000 crore for the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Agro Infrastructure Mission to help farmers. ₹1,000 crore was pledged for the Bhamashah Scheme to provide MSP for tomatoes, potatoes, and other vegetables," Yadav said.

He criticized the Yogi Adityanath-led government for allegedly neglecting the agricultural sector and failing to support farmers despite repeated assurances.

"These were some points in the manifesto that have not been fulfilled even after nine state budgets," the former Chief Minister added.

Yadav's remarks come amid growing discontent among farmers, with many demanding better support from the state government. His criticism signals that the SP is likely to make agrarian issues a major election plank in the upcoming polls.

The BJP, however, has defended its budget, asserting that it prioritizes growth and welfare. With opposition voices growing stronger, the political debate over the budget is set to intensify in the coming days.
