Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju, on Thursday, revealed that he has been entrusted with the honor of carrying a chadar (sacred cloth) on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the revered Ajmer Sharif Dargah.
Addressing reporters, Rijiju said, "I bring the chadar that PM Modi has handed over to me for Ajmer Sharif Dargah. We all prayed and sought blessings. We are going there with PM Modi's message of brotherhood and for peace in the country."
The Union Minister emphasized the significance of the gesture, stating that it reflects the government?s commitment to fostering unity and harmony among all communities. He further added, "Tomorrow at 11 am, we will offer the chadar at Ajmer Sharif."
The chadar offering at the dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, a 13th-century Sufi saint, is a time-honored tradition followed by leaders from across the political spectrum. Known as a symbol of universal peace and brotherhood, the shrine attracts millions of devotees from various faiths every year.
The act of sending the chadar underscores Prime Minister Modi?s outreach towards promoting social harmony and communal amity. Rijiju?s visit will carry forward this message at a time when unity and peace are critical for the nation.
