In an unexpected development, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar arrived in Delhi on Monday and met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence. Later in the day, Kumar is also scheduled to meet with Home Minister Amit Shah. Meanwhile, sources told India TV that a delegation from the Finance Commission is expected to visit Patna on June 10, during which discussions may focus on Bihar's demand for special status and a special package, as well as an increased share of central funds for the state.
Adding to the political intrigue, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav recently stirred speculations by suggesting that "something major" will occur in Bihar after the Lok Sabha election results are announced on June 4. Yadav hinted at a rift between Nitish Kumar and his ally BJP, stating, "Ever since I made the prediction that chacha (uncle) will take a big decision after Lok Sabha polls, he has not been going out to campaign."
Yadav, who lost his Deputy CM position when Kumar rejoined the NDA in January, observed that the Governor has been holding meetings and issuing instructions, indicating potential changes. "The BJP and the JD(U) are concentrating on their respective seats, with no synergy," Yadav alleged, adding, "All these things confirm my apprehension that after June 4 Bihar is going to witness something big."
Despite the alliance's end, Yadav has refrained from directly attacking Kumar. He even claimed that Kumar wanted the BJP to be defeated, suggesting that "his blessings are with me." This comment followed Kumar's absence from Prime Minister Modi's nomination filing in Varanasi due to health issues.
