Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has raised serious concerns over the growing misuse of artificial intelligence tools to sexually exploit women online, calling for immediate government and regulatory intervention.
In a strongly worded message on social media, Chaturvedi said she has sought urgent action from the Union IT Minister over the disturbing trend of AI-driven applications being used to manipulate images of women, including generating explicit or “undressed” visuals without consent. She warned that such technologies are rapidly becoming tools of digital harassment and abuse.
Stressing the responsibility of technology companies, the Rajya Sabha MP said advanced AI features must operate within strict ethical boundaries. She asserted that platforms and AI tools cannot be allowed to violate women’s dignity under the guise of innovation, and that “big tech firms must take full accountability for how their products are being misused.”
Chaturvedi also underlined the social dimension of the problem, stating that technological safeguards alone are not enough. She pointed out that misogynistic behaviour online reflects deeper societal failures, adding that men engaging in such acts need better value-based education at home and in schools so they do not grow into what she described as “deeply disturbed adults.”
