In a sharp attack on the recently passed Waqf Amendment Act, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi has accused the government of violating the fundamental rights of Muslims. Speaking in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, Owaisi stated, "This Act violates our fundamental rights. The aim behind bringing this Act is not to save Waqf properties but to snatch them away from Muslims."
The Waqf Amendment Act, which has sparked widespread controversy, aims to give more power to the Waqf Board for overseeing Waqf properties. However, critics, including Owaisi, argue that it would effectively diminish the control of Muslim communities over these properties. He further asserted that the legislation, rather than safeguarding Waqf properties, is an attempt to seize them from Muslims.
