Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar following a tragic plane crash in Baramati. Addressing the annual NCC Prime Minister’s Rally in New Delhi, PM Modi spoke emotionally about Ajit Pawar’s contribution to Maharashtra and the nation, describing him as a leader deeply connected to the grassroots.

Referring to the incident, the Prime Minister said, “A tragic plane crash took place in Maharashtra this morning. The incident has led to the demise of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and a few others. Ajit Dada played a key role in the development of Maharashtra and the country.”

Highlighting Pawar’s focus on rural development, PM Modi added, “He proactively worked to improve the lives of people in rural areas. His efforts towards public welfare will always be remembered.” He extended his condolences to the bereaved families, saying the entire nation stands with them in this moment of grief.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister shared a heartfelt message on social media platform X, remembering Ajit Pawar as a mass leader with strong administrative insight. “Shri Ajit Pawar Ji was a leader of the people with a strong grassroots connect. He was widely respected for his tireless service to Maharashtra. His understanding of administration and commitment to empowering the poor were truly remarkable,” PM Modi wrote, calling the loss “shocking and deeply saddening.”
