Leader of Opposition Atishi on Saturday slammed the BJP-led central government for failing to deliver on its election promise of providing ₹2,500 per month to women in Delhi under the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana.
In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), Atishi reminded Prime Minister Narendra Modi of his campaign assurance, stating that women in Delhi were still waiting for the money to be credited to their bank accounts.
“During the election campaign, PM Modi had promised ₹2,500 to all women by March 8. But it has not yet been received. Today, on International Women’s Day, every woman in Delhi is staring at her phone, waiting for a message confirming the deposit,” Atishi said in her video message.

The Mahila Samriddhi Yojana was a key poll promise in BJP’s Delhi manifesto, aiming to provide financial assistance to women from economically weaker sections.
Taking a sharp dig at the BJP, Atishi cautioned that this should not be another ‘jumla’ (false promise). “I hope PM Modi fulfils his promise, and this does not turn out to be yet another empty claim,” she added.
