On Thursday, the Bihar Police filed a case against an individual claiming to be the in-charge of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)'s IT cell for a social media post alleging that two "EVM hackers" were staying at the Raj Bhavan in Patna. The Economic Offences Unit (EOU), responsible for cyber crime investigations, confirmed that the complaint was lodged by R L Chongthu, the principal secretary to the Governor.

The accused, identified by the username ?Laluwadi_Nitesh? on the social media platform X, described himself as the in-charge of the RJD's IT cell. The FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Representation of People Act, and the Information Technology (IT) Act. The contentious post was made a day before the complaint.

RJD sources have remained silent regarding the incident. However, ?Laluwadi_Nitesh? posted another message on X, implying that the FIR against him further "gives rise to doubts."

"The complaint was lodged by R L Chongthu, the principal secretary to the Governor. The FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC, the Representation of People Act, and the IT Act," stated the EOU in its statement.

In response to the incident, the EOU has taken measures to ensure the removal of the objectionable post and has established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to identify and apprehend all those potentially involved.
