Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly and senior AAP leader Atishi on Tuesday launched a fierce attack on the BJP, rejecting what she called “completely false allegations” and accusing the ruling party of repeatedly insulting the Sikh community for political gains.

Addressing the media, Atishi said, “The allegations made by the BJP are completely false. My family and I have immense faith in the Sikh Gurus, especially Guru Tegh Bahadur.” She alleged that BJP leader Kapil Mishra was deliberately spreading lies to divert attention from real issues like pollution.

Atishi did not mince words while targeting Kapil Mishra, stating, “Kapil Mishra's habit of lying is not new. This is the same Kapil Mishra who falsely alleged that he had seen Arvind Kejriwal taking money with his own eyes. This same Kapil Mishra had to apologise in court and admit that he was lying.” She asserted that history would repeat itself, adding, “Kapil Mishra will have to apologise in this matter too and admit that he is a liar.”

Accusing Mishra of hurting religious sentiments for political survival, Atishi said, “Kapil Mishra has insulted the Gurus for his petty politics, to escape discussion on pollution.” She claimed that instead of answering public concerns, the BJP was indulging in provocative and divisive statements.

The AAP leader further broadened her attack on the BJP, alleging a consistent pattern of hostility towards Sikhs. “This is the same BJP that called our Sikh brothers Khalistanis when they were protesting during the farmers' movement,” she said, adding that the language used by BJP leaders at the time was deeply offensive. “Kapil Mishra used such derogatory language about them that we cannot even repeat it here,” Atishi remarked.

She also named several BJP leaders, saying, “Their own Kangana Ranaut, Nitin Patel, and Meenakshi Lekhi left no stone unturned in calling our Sikh brothers Khalistanis.” According to Atishi, these remarks reflected a deeper mindset within the party.

Concluding her statement, Atishi made a sharp allegation, declaring, “The BJP hates the Sikh community. This hatred is not new.” She said the people of Delhi and the country were watching closely and would respond to such politics at the right time.
