BJP leader Vinoj P Selvam on Thursday launched a scathing attack on actor-turned-politician Vijay and his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), accusing them of operating with a “DMK-style toolkit” to derail Tamil Nadu’s development.
“Deep State has given birth to a new baby whom we shouldn’t take lightly. The old baby DMK has grown old, so Vijay is the new one,” Selvam declared, likening the actor’s political strategies to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s opposition playbook. “Just like how DMK stopped development while being in the Opposition, the new baby who is Vijay is doing so,” he added.
Selvam went further, alleging that TVK was born with a “naxal mindset,” echoing BJP leader Pandian’s earlier remarks, and accused the party of indulging in “textbook opposition propaganda.” He asserted that the BJP would “uproot this mindset” to protect Tamil Nadu’s progress.
Speaking at the India Today Conclave on September 9, Selvam drew parallels with the past, saying:
“In 2021, the DMK created Kamal Haasan to split votes and gain victory. This time, the monster they have created in Vijay will affect them badly.”
He predicted that the combination of anti-incumbency and TVK’s rise could weaken the DMK’s chances in the 2026 elections, turning Vijay’s political gamble into a challenge for the ruling party itself.
