Amit Shah launched a sharp attack on opposition parties while addressing a major programme titled “Jan-Jan Ki Sarkar: Char Saal Bemisaal” in Uttarakhand.

During the event, Shah recalled the long struggle for the state’s identity and said the youth of Uttarakhand had once taken to the streets to protect their culture and heritage.

He alleged that during that period the Indian National Congress and the Samajwadi Party suppressed the voices of young protesters.

Shah Credits Vajpayee for Creating Uttarakhand

The Union Home Minister praised former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for officially creating Uttarakhand and fulfilling the aspirations of the people.

He said the formation of the state marked a historic moment for residents who had long demanded their own identity and administrative autonomy.

Shah added that the struggle of the people of Uttarakhand was deeply rooted in their desire to protect the region’s culture, traditions and natural heritage.

BJP Government Marks Four Years in Uttarakhand

Speaking about governance in the state, Shah highlighted that the government led by Pushkar Singh Dhami is completing four years in power.

He said the Bharatiya Janata Party government has focused on development and stability in the hill state.

Shah also announced development projects worth ₹1,132 crore, which are being inaugurated across Uttarakhand.

According to him, these initiatives are aimed at strengthening infrastructure and improving public services for the people.

Shah Highlights Legal Reforms Under Modi Government

Shah also spoke about major legal reforms introduced under the leadership of Narendra Modi.

He said several colonial-era laws have been abolished and replaced with new legislation, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

According to Shah, the new laws aim to make India’s justice system more aligned with Indian values. He said the full implementation of the new legal framework is expected by 2028.

Shah Defends Citizenship Law for Refugees

The Home Minister also defended the government’s decision to grant citizenship to refugees under the Citizenship Amendment Act.

He said around 200 refugees from Pakistan and Afghanistan living in Uttarakhand have already been granted Indian citizenship.

Shah criticised opposition parties such as Congress, SP, BSP, TMC and DMK for opposing the law.

Targeting Rahul Gandhi, he said that protests would not stop the government from granting citizenship to persecuted minorities.

CM Dhami Praises “Historic Reforms”

Earlier at the event, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami praised the Centre’s reforms, saying they were important for strengthening the vision of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.”

Dhami said the Citizenship Amendment Act had provided long-awaited recognition and security to refugees who had lived in uncertainty for years.

He also welcomed the replacement of colonial-era laws with modern legal frameworks, saying the new system focuses on justice rather than punishment.

The event marked four years of the BJP government in Uttarakhand and was used by the party to highlight its development initiatives and legal reforms implemented in the state.
