Early Life and Education

Nirali Sanjaykumar Patel was born and raised in Gujarat. She completed her education up to the 10th standard from Shri S.S. Ajmera Kanya Vidyalay, located in Amreli, Gujarat, in the year 1998. Coming from a modest background, her early life was shaped by a strong sense of community service and local involvement.

Political Career

Nirali Patel began her political journey with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). She successfully contested the 2021 Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) elections from Ward 5 (Fulpada–Ashwinikumar) and was elected as a corporator. Her victory was part of a major breakthrough for AAP in Surat, where the party won 27 seats in its debut civic election.

In April 2023, Nirali Patel, along with five other AAP corporators, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The switch was made in the presence of Gujarat's Home Minister and marked a significant blow to AAP's presence in the Surat Municipal Corporation.

Within the SMC, Nirali Patel has served as a member of the Health Committee, contributing to discussions and minor initiatives around ward-level public health and sanitation.

Controversy

In August 2024, Nirali Patel was accused by a former mayor of demanding a bribe of one lakh rupees for issuing a structural notice concerning a house in Fulpada zone. This accusation was captured on video and reported in local Gujarati news outlets. Nirali Patel publicly denied the allegation, stating it was politically motivated. While the incident led to political discussions, no legal proceedings were initiated.

As of 2025, Nirali Patel continues to serve as a corporator representing Ward 5 under the BJP. Her political future is tied to her performance in the ward, especially after switching parties.
