In a significant development, the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday in connection with the money laundering investigation led by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). This decision comes as a major relief to Kejriwal, who has been incarcerated for over 90 days.
Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva voiced his concerns, drawing parallels with another political figure. He said, "Arvind Kejriwal's new ally Lalu Yadav also got interim bail but later had to go to jail after being proven guilty. The decision on the scam and theft committed by the Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor policy is still pending." He further added, "Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj should be ready because Arvind Kejriwal, who is the main accused in the liquor scam, has also named them in the scam."
The Apex Court has referred Kejriwal?s petition, which challenges his arrest by the ED, to a larger bench for further deliberation. While granting the interim bail, the Supreme Court emphasized Kejriwal?s status as an elected leader, stating, ?It is up to him to decide if he wants to continue as Delhi CM.? This ruling marks a crucial moment in the ongoing legal battle and has significant implications for Delhi?s political landscape.
