Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva today made strong allegations against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of hindering the allotment of over 50,000 flats in Ghoga Bhavan, Narela—a project that, according to Sachdeva, has been funded more than 60% by the central government.

Sachdeva claimed that these flats, which could have been allotted to sanitation workers and labourers, have been withheld under Kejriwal’s leadership, depriving the poor of much-needed housing.

“There are more than 50,000 flats in Ghoga Bhavan, Narela, and the central government has invested more than 60% of the funds in this project. These flats could have been allotted to sanitation workers and labourers, but Kejriwal, despite being the Chief Minister for three terms, kept hindering the process to prevent the poor from benefitting,” Sachdeva said, addressing the media.

He further criticized Kejriwal’s government for only making housing promises now, with the Delhi assembly elections fast approaching. “Now, as the elections are near, Kejriwal is making announcements about giving houses to poor people. There are 50,000 flats ready, but if you are willing to set aside your ego and arrogance, the Modi government is ready to step in and ensure these flats are given to the people,” Sachdeva added.

The Ghoga Bhavan Narela housing project, located in the northern part of Delhi, was built to cater to the needs of lower-income groups. However, its delayed allotment has become a point of contention between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and the BJP.
