Security has been visibly increased around sensitive zones, including areas close to the historic Red Fort and nearby commercial hubs.
Officials said the alert was issued as a precautionary measure based on threat assessments shared with multiple security agencies.
Temple Area in Chandni Chowk Under Watch
Sources indicated that intelligence inputs pointed to a possible risk involving a religious site in the Chandni Chowk locality. Although no suspicious activity has been reported so far, police have intensified surveillance in the crowded area, which sees heavy daily footfall.
Additional forces have been deployed, and movement in sensitive lanes is being closely monitored.
Terror Outfit Under Scanner
Security agencies suspect the involvement of Lashkar-e-Taiba, a banned Pakistan-based terror organisation. Intelligence officials believe the group may be attempting to plan an attack using an improvised explosive device as part of a larger terror strategy.
Investigators are examining whether the threat could be linked to recent developments across the border, including a blast reported at a mosque in Islamabad earlier this month.
Nationwide Vigil at Religious Sites
Beyond Delhi, alerts have been shared with state police forces across the country. Security has been strengthened at major temples and religious landmarks in several states, particularly those that attract large crowds.
Authorities have advised local police units to maintain a high level of preparedness and coordination with central agencies.

In the capital, police and paramilitary units have increased patrolling near heritage monuments, markets, religious places, and transport hubs. Bomb disposal squads, sniffer dog units, and quick reaction teams are on standby, while CCTV monitoring has been expanded in high-risk zones.
