ED Moves Supreme Court Seeking FIR Against Mamata Banerjee, DGP Rajeev Kumar, And Kolkata Police Chief Over I-PAC Raid

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has moved the Supreme Court seeking directions for the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar, and Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Kumar.

In its petition, the ED has alleged that senior state authorities deliberately interfered with a central agency’s investigation during the I-PAC raid. The agency has claimed that its officials were obstructed while carrying out lawful duties and were prevented from accessing key locations linked to the probe.

According to the ED, crucial evidence related to the case was tampered with and certain materials were allegedly destroyed to derail the investigation. The petition further alleges that actions taken by top officials amounted to abuse of power and direct interference in a sensitive inquiry being conducted under central laws.

The ED has urged the apex court to intervene, arguing that the alleged obstruction has serious implications for the rule of law and the independence of investigative agencies. It has sought directions to ensure accountability and prevent any further interference in the probe.
