Delhi Minister Ashish Sood on Thursday defended the government’s decision to lodge a police complaint and register an FIR over what he described as the deliberate spread of false information and disinformation concerning teachers in the national capital. He said the move was taken after careful consideration and was necessary to protect public interest and the dignity of the teaching community.
Addressing the media, Sood said the Delhi government generally avoids responding to what he termed as political provocation. However, he stressed that the situation demanded firm action as the misinformation campaign was not local but allegedly orchestrated from outside Delhi.
Sood directly targeted Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal, alleging that the misleading narrative was pushed from Chandigarh with the intention of creating confusion and unrest. He said the government could not remain a silent spectator when fake news is used as a political tool.
The minister added that spreading propaganda related to teachers is a serious issue and affects not only educators but also students and parents. According to him, the FIR is meant to send a clear message that the government will act decisively against attempts to mislead the public through fabricated claims.
