Gujarat Police Seize 1,283 Kg Of Beef From Mumbai-Bound Express Train At Vadodara Railway Station

In a major bust, Gujarat police seized 1,283 kg of beef being transported in a parcel van of the Golden Temple Express at Vadodara railway station on Wednesday evening. The meat was being transported from Amritsar, Punjab, and was bound for Mumbai.

According to Saroj Kumari, Superintendent of Police (SP), Western Railway, Vadodara, the authorities acted on a tip-off and intercepted the train. Sixteen parcels, each containing beef, were seized during the operation. "An FIR was registered against two persons, Vijay Singh and Jafar Shabir, after forensic confirmation from Surat Forensic Science Laboratory," Kumari said.

The seizure was confirmed to be beef following forensic tests, and a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), which deals with animal cruelty. Both Vijay Singh, the sender, and Jafar Shabir, the receiver, face charges related to the illegal transport of banned meat.
