A fierce encounter erupted between security forces and terrorists in the Singhpora area of Chatroo, located in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, early Thursday, following a swift response to intelligence inputs suggesting the presence of militants in the region.
Acting on credible information, security personnel launched a coordinated search operation in the densely forested terrain of Singhpora. The situation quickly escalated when the hiding terrorists opened fire, triggering a gunbattle that is still ongoing.
"Exchange of fire started between Security Forces and terrorists in the Singhpora area of Chatroo in Kishtwar," Jammu and Kashmir Police confirmed in a statement, as reported by ANI.
Initial reports indicate that three to four terrorists may be trapped in the area. Security forces have sealed all exit routes and intensified the operation to neutralize the threat.
