In a shocking incident, an Indian student from Hyderabad, Chandrashekar Pole, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Texas, USA. The tragedy came to light on Saturday when BRS MLA and former Telangana minister T Harish Rao confirmed the news.
According to reports, Chandrashekar was working part-time at a gas station in Denton, Texas, when the attack occurred. The 24-year-old student had completed his Bachelor's in Dental Surgery (BDS) in India before moving to Dallas for higher studies.
"It is tragic that Chandrashekar Pole, a Dalit student from LB Nagar who completed BDS and went to America (Dallas) for higher studies, died in a shooting carried out by miscreants early morning," Harish Rao posted on X (formerly Twitter).
The BRS leader, who is also the nephew of party chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, said he, along with other leaders, met Chandrashekar’s family in Hyderabad to convey condolences. He further urged the Revanth Reddy-led Telangana government to ensure that the victim’s body is brought back home promptly for the last rites.
Chandrashekar’s LinkedIn profile mentions that he had been working part-time with GEICO as a senior data analyst since August last year, alongside pursuing his higher studies.
The news has sent shockwaves among the student community and raised concerns about the safety of Indian students in the United States.
