A fresh political controversy has erupted after Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav took a jibe at the BJP, stating that the party prefers "bad smells" and that’s why they build cowsheds, while SP appreciates "fragrance" and makes ittar (perfume). Responding sharply, BJP MP Sambit Patra accused Yadav of being anti-Sanatan Dharma and challenged his stance.
"All of you know that Congress and Samajwadi Party always talk against Sanatan Dharma. Recently, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said that BJP likes bad smell, that is why they are building 'goshala,' and Samajwadi Party likes fragrance, which is why they are making 'ittar'… This shows that these people are anti-Sanatani. If, living in India, they hate Sanatan, then they should live in a country which will tolerate insults of Sanatan Dharma," Patra declared.

His strong statement has sparked a political firestorm, with BJP leaders condemning Akhilesh Yadav's remarks as an attack on Hindu traditions. The 'Goshala vs. Ittar' debate has now turned into a larger ideological battle, fueling tensions between the BJP and Samajwadi Party ahead of upcoming elections.
