IndiGo Meltdown Hits Gujarat: 35 Flights Scrapped In Ahmedabad Alone As Furious Passengers Crowd Airports

The nationwide turmoil triggered by IndiGo’s operational collapse continued to batter Gujarat’s airports on Saturday, leaving passengers stranded for hours with little clarity and rising frustration. Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport witnessed the worst of it, as flight information boards lit up with cancellation after cancellation throughout the day.

Airport authorities confirmed that 35 IndiGo departures and 37 arrivals scheduled between midnight and 11:59 pm were scrapped — a staggering 72 flights wiped off the schedule in a single day. This heavy disruption left passengers stuck in serpentine queues at IndiGo counters, many demanding answers after spending nearly three days shuttling between the terminal and help desks.

The chaos wasn't limited to Ahmedabad. Vadodara airport also reported significant disruption, with three outbound flights and three incoming flights cancelled by the airline. Passengers there described scenes of confusion, with flight information fluctuating and staff struggling to manage growing crowds. One IndiGo flight to Mumbai remained delayed for long hours, adding to the distress.

Rajkot airport, however, saw comparatively minor disruption, bringing some relief to fliers. Only one flight — the Mumbai-bound service — was cancelled, while seven IndiGo flights to major metros like Delhi, Goa, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai took off as planned, officials confirmed.

At Ahmedabad, passengers grew increasingly agitated. Many accused the airline of failing to communicate properly and complained of inadequate facilities, despite long hours of waiting. In response, IndiGo set up a special assistance and refund desk inside the terminal, but the move did little to placate travellers who alleged they were “left in the dark” about rescheduling options and compensation.
