IndiGo Resumes Middle East Flights Cautiously Amid Ongoing Regional Tensions

India's leading airline IndiGo has begun the cautious and phased resumption of its flight operations to and from the Middle East, following a temporary suspension due to escalating tensions in the region. The decision comes as airports across West Asia gradually reopen in the aftermath of intensified conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States.

In an official statement released on Tuesday, IndiGo confirmed it is "prudently and progressively" restoring connectivity on its Middle Eastern routes. The airline emphasized that passenger safety remains its top priority and that it is carefully evaluating flight paths to ensure secure and smooth travel experiences.

“As airports across the Middle East gradually reopen, we are prudently and progressively resuming operations on these routes,” IndiGo posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle. “We continue to monitor the situation closely and are fully considering the safest available flight paths to ensure secure and seamless travel. Please stay updated via our mobile app or website,” the statement added.

The airline had earlier suspended all flights to major Middle Eastern destinations including Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah, Sharjah, Muscat, Kuwait, Bahrain, and others. This measure was in response to a rapidly deteriorating security situation caused by escalating military activity.

Tensions in the region spiked after the United States launched Operation Midnight Hammer, targeting three key Iranian nuclear sites early Sunday. Iran responded swiftly by firing multiple ballistic missiles at US military installations in Qatar and Iraq, including the strategically significant Al Udeid Air Base.

Amid this backdrop of military escalation, US President Donald Trump announced what he described as a “complete and total ceasefire” between Iran and Israel, suggesting it would take effect within six hours of his announcement. However, Iran has issued no official confirmation of such an agreement, and military actions have continued in several parts of the region.
