A fresh political controversy has erupted in Karnataka after alleged Instagram messages sent to a woman were linked to a BJP legislator, triggering sharp criticism from the Congress and a swift denial from the MLA concerned.
Karnataka Congress vice president Pushpamanjunath publicly accused Jayanagar BJP MLA C.K. Ramamurthy of sending personal direct messages to a young woman on Instagram. The allegation surfaced after a woman named Anushka Nagmohan shared screenshots on her Instagram story, claiming she had received repeated “good morning” and “good evening” messages from the legislator’s account.
Taking to social media platform X, Pushpamanjunath shared the screenshots and questioned the conduct of elected representatives. In his post, he wrote, “Do you want to know who is messaging young women? Jayanagar MLA C.K. Ramamurthy. Early morning ‘Good Morning’ messages are being sent from his account.” He further claimed that the screenshots were shared directly by the woman herself.
The Congress leader also added a sarcastic remark while reposting the images, writing, “GM/GN messages from the MLA uncle. Hope aunty isn’t on airplane mode at home,” a comment that quickly drew attention and sparked debate online.
As the screenshots went viral, C.K. Ramamurthy issued a clarification denying any involvement. The BJP MLA said the messages were not sent by him and claimed his mobile phone and Instagram account had been compromised. “My account appears to have been hacked. I have not sent any such messages,” he said.
Ramamurthy described the incident as a case of cyber misuse and stated that he would approach the cyber crime police to file a formal complaint. He also appealed to people not to jump to conclusions based on unverified social media posts.
