MK Stalin Slams Amit Shah: 'Can You Assure NEET Exemption, No Hindi Imposition, And Protection Of TN’s Parliamentary Seats?'

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin launched a sharp attack on Union Home Minister Amit Shah, posing a series of pointed questions over key issues concerning the state and accusing the BJP-led Centre of ignoring Tamil Nadu’s demands.

Speaking at a public meeting, Stalin challenged Shah on four critical issues — the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), imposition of Hindi, allocation of special funds, and the possible impact of delimitation on Tamil Nadu’s parliamentary representation.

“I want to ask Union Home Minister Amit Shah — can he give assurance to provide exemption from NEET? Can he give assurance that you won't impose Hindi? Can he list out the release of special funds to Tamil Nadu? Can you give your word that delimitation won't reduce seats (of Tamil Nadu in parliamentary elections)?” Stalin asked, addressing a gathering of DMK supporters and the media.

He further questioned the BJP’s narrative that the DMK was “diverting issues.” “If we are diverting, why didn't you give a proper response to the Tamil Nadu people?” he demanded, implying that the Centre’s silence was telling.

The NEET issue remains a politically sensitive and emotive topic in Tamil Nadu, with the DMK consistently opposing the centralized test, arguing it disadvantages state board students, especially those from rural and underprivileged backgrounds.

Stalin’s remarks also reignited concerns over the Centre’s alleged push for Hindi, an issue that has historically drawn sharp resistance from Tamil Nadu, where the Dravidian movement has long stood against linguistic imposition.

On the matter of delimitation — the redrawing of constituency boundaries based on population — Stalin expressed fears that Tamil Nadu could lose parliamentary seats due to its successful population control efforts, while states with higher population growth may benefit.
