Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi will be sworn in for his third consecutive term on June 9 at 7:15 pm, according to an official announcement from the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday. Along with Modi, the members of his council of ministers will also take their oaths on the same day.
Earlier in the day, Modi met with President Droupadi Murmu to formally stake his claim to form the government under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief J P Nadda presented a letter to President Murmu confirming Modi's election as the leader of the BJP Parliamentary Party. Additionally, NDA leaders submitted their letters of support.
"Exercising powers vested in her under Article 75 (1) of the Constitution of India, President Droupadi Murmu today appointed @narendramodi to the office of Prime Minister of India," the President's office posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
