In a high-stakes rally held in Garhwa, Jharkhand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sharply criticized the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) government, accusing it of obstructing the state?s progress and development initiatives. Speaking to an enthusiastic crowd ahead of the state?s upcoming assembly elections, Modi asserted that while the Central government has pushed forward initiatives for Jharkhand's growth, the JMM administration has posed significant challenges.
?For the welfare of Jharkhand's people?its farmers, its industries?the Central government has put in relentless efforts. But despite these efforts, the state government here has put up obstacles at every turn,? Modi claimed. He suggested that a ?double-engine government,? with the BJP leading both the state and the center, would accelerate development, benefiting the region's infrastructure, connectivity, and economic growth.
PM Modi highlighted key infrastructure projects, including expanding road and rail connectivity and implementing gas pipelines, such as those connecting Jagadishpur, Haldia, and Bokaro. These projects, he argued, are designed to improve local facilities and reduce fuel costs for Jharkhand?s residents.
The prime minister also underscored that Jharkhand?s elections coincide with India's broader goal of becoming a developed nation by its 100th Independence Day, reiterating the urgency of political alignment between the state and Central government for rapid progress.
BJP's Promises and Shah?s Address on UCC
Adding to the BJP?s campaign momentum, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who addressed several rallies in the state on Sunday, announced the party?s commitment to introducing a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Jharkhand if voted into power. However, Shah assured that tribal communities would be exempt from UCC provisions, countering JMM?s claims that such policies would erode tribal rights and culture. Shah also promised the establishment of a Displacement Commission aimed at supporting those displaced by industrial and mining activities in the state.
Upcoming Elections and Rallies
The assembly elections in Jharkhand are set for two phases, on November 13 and November 20, with vote counting scheduled for November 23. In preparation for the elections, Modi will also address rallies in Chaibasa, with the BJP leadership emphasizing infrastructure, economic growth, and policy initiatives as key issues in its campaign.
