Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan on Tuesday acknowledged unrest within party ranks ahead of the municipal corporation elections, attributing it to intense competition for a limited number of tickets.
Speaking about the selection process, Mahajan said the party had to distribute only 122 tickets, while the number of aspirants crossed 1,000, creating inevitable disappointment among workers. He admitted that both senior leaders and new entrants were keen to contest, making the exercise particularly challenging.
“Everyone felt they deserved a chance. Some have been working for years, others joined recently, and all wanted tickets. But when you have only 122 tickets and such high demand, dissatisfaction is bound to happen,” Mahajan said.
