Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Parliamentary Party head Sanjay Singh has confirmed that the Arvind Kejriwal-led party has formally exited the INDIA bloc and will not take part in the alliance’s coordination meeting ahead of the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament.

Speaking to India Today on Friday, Sanjay Singh stated, “AAP is out of the INDIA bloc. Our party has made it clear, Arvind Kejriwal has made it clear. We are no longer part of the alliance.” He clarified that the INDIA alliance was formed solely for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and AAP has since moved forward with an independent electoral strategy.

“In Haryana and Delhi, we contested assembly elections independently after the Lok Sabha polls. We also fought by-elections in Punjab and Gujarat on our own,” Singh told India Today, underlining the party’s stance on maintaining autonomy in state-level contests.

Despite its exit from the formal coalition, AAP has indicated it will continue to coordinate with other opposition parties on select parliamentary matters. “On Parliamentary issues, we do take the support of opposition parties such as the TMC and DMK. And so do they take our support,” Singh said, adding, “We have always played the role of a strong and powerful opposition and will do so. Whatever issues are there, we will raise them in the Parliament.”

The month-long Monsoon Session of Parliament is scheduled to begin on July 21. Leaders of the INDIA bloc parties are expected to meet virtually on Saturday to discuss key issues including the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, the Pahalgam terror attack, and Operation Sindoor. However, the absence of AAP—and possibly the Trinamool Congress—signals growing rifts within the opposition alliance.
