Extending support to Congress leader and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of voter fraud in the Haryana Assembly elections, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Abu Azmi on Thursday criticised the Election Commission and the ruling government for failing to take the matter seriously.

Speaking to the media, Azmi said, “Every day, Rahul Gandhi is showing something or the other and showing how bogus voting is taking place, but the Election Commission or the government is not taking him seriously. If they are in power, will they misuse their power?”

Calling for political unity among opposition parties, the SP leader asserted that the time had come to collectively challenge what he described as systematic electoral malpractice. “All the Opposition parties of the country should come together and stand against this,” Azmi added.
