In a landmark move to transform Bihar’s energy landscape and provide relief to millions of households, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary confirmed the state government’s plan to offer free electricity up to 125 units for domestic consumers. The initiative, announced by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, is set to benefit 1.67 crore families.
"Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has announced free electricity up to 125 units... This will benefit a total of 1 crore 67 lakh families in the state...", Choudhary said while addressing the media.
He further elaborated on Bihar’s ambitious solar energy strategy, stating that solar power plants would be installed on rooftops or at nearby public areas within the next three years. "In the next three years, solar power plants will be installed on the rooftops or at nearby public places to provide benefits," he explained.
The Kutir Jyoti Yojana, aimed at assisting the poorest families, will ensure that the entire cost of solar plant installation is covered by the government. "For extremely poor families, the State government will bear the entire cost of installing solar power plants, and for the rest, the government will provide appropriate support," Choudhary added.
