A 46-year-old air hostess has filed a shocking complaint, alleging that she was sexually assaulted by a hospital staffer while being on a ventilator in the ICU at Medanta Hospital, Gurugram. According to the woman, two nurses were present in the room at the time but failed to intervene.

The woman, originally from West Bengal, had traveled to Gurugram for a training programme and was admitted to the hospital on April 5 after falling ill following a swim in a hotel pool. The incident reportedly took place on April 6 while she was unconscious on a ventilator and unable to resist due to her weakened state.

Police reports indicate that the air hostess, who had arrived in Gurugram on March 31, was in the city for a training session by an airline operator. Following her hospitalization, she was discharged on April 13. It was only after her discharge that the woman confided in her husband about the assault and subsequently lodged a complaint with the Sadar police station.

In her complaint, the woman stated, “I was on a ventilator when some hospital staff sexually assaulted me. I was not in a condition to speak or resist the man’s advances because of my weakened condition. There were two nurses in the room, but they did not intervene.”

The police have filed a case of molestation and other relevant charges under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in connection with the assault. Investigations are ongoing as the authorities work to gather evidence and identify the hospital staff member involved in the alleged incident.
