Following the elimination of 16 Naxalites in a fierce encounter in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated the government's firm stance against Naxalism. He declared that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the government is committed to wiping out Naxalism by March 31, 2026.
"My appeal to those with arms is that weapons and violence cannot bring change; only peace and development can," Shah stated, urging Naxals to surrender and join the mainstream.
The recent operation, conducted by security forces, marks another significant blow to Maoist insurgency in the region. Shah reaffirmed that the central government will continue its crackdown on left-wing extremism while ensuring the development of affected areas to integrate them into the national framework.
