Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal has alleged that his car was attacked during a public meeting in Hari Nagar, Delhi, on Thursday. Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Kejriwal blamed Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Delhi Police for the incident.
In his post, Kejriwal claimed that supporters of a rival candidate were allowed by the Delhi Police to enter his public meeting, where they allegedly attacked his car. “Today in Hari Nagar, the police allowed the opposition candidate's men to enter my public meeting and then attacked my car. All this is happening on the orders of Amit Shah,” Kejriwal wrote.
He further criticized the Delhi Police, accusing it of acting as "the personal army of the BJP." Kejriwal’s allegations come amid heightened tensions during the Delhi Assembly election campaigns, where rival parties have frequently clashed over security concerns and allegations of misuse of administrative machinery.
The AAP leader also slammed the Election Commission of India, expressing disappointment over its inability to take effective action in such incidents. "Major questions are being raised on the Election Commission that the national president of a national party and its leaders are being constantly attacked, and the Election Commission is unable to take any effective action," he added.
No official response has been issued yet by the Delhi Police or the Union Home Ministry regarding the allegations. Kejriwal's claims have sparked a political row, with opposition parties accusing him of making baseless claims for political mileage, while his supporters have called for a thorough investigation into the incident.
As the Delhi elections approach, such allegations are likely to intensify the political battle between AAP and BJP in the capital.
