Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has claimed that Elizabeth Gogoi, wife of Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, had visited Pakistan even after their marriage. He hinted at the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter.
"More and more information is coming out. We have definite information that Elizabeth Gogoi has visited Pakistan even after her marriage. Whether she went with the MP or alone, these things will be confirmed," Sarma stated.

The Chief Minister further added that the Assam Cabinet is set to meet on Sunday, where a decision on forming an SIT is likely. "Unless a regular case is registered, the passport and visa of the alleged person involved will not be investigated. We will also probe the entire ecosystem, including sympathizers," he said.
The remarks have triggered a political storm, with the opposition questioning the intent behind the allegations. The BJP-led Assam government is expected to take further action following the cabinet meeting.
