At UNGA, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey Slams Pakistan Over Child Rights Violations And Terrorism: ‘Stop Preaching, Look In The Mirror’

In a powerful address at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on Monday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and MP Nishikant Dubey launched a scathing attack on Pakistan, accusing it of being one of the “most serious violators” of the Children and Armed Conflict (CAAC) agenda and engaging in repeated acts of terrorism.

Dubey condemned Islamabad’s attempts to deflect global scrutiny by falsely portraying itself as a victim while ignoring its own record of human rights and child protection failures.

“We strongly condemn their attempt to divert the world's attention from the grave abuses against children within their borders,” Dubey said, referring to the UN Secretary-General’s 2025 report on CAAC. “The same report details Pakistan’s attacks on health workers and schools—particularly girls' schools—and the killing of Afghan children due to cross-border shelling and airstrikes.”

The BJP MP also recalled the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 civilians were killed by Pakistan-trained militants in Jammu and Kashmir. Dubey stated that India responded with precision under Operation Sindoor in May 2025, conducting surgical strikes on nine terrorist hideouts to neutralize the perpetrators.

“India exercised its legitimate right to defend its people against terrorism and bring its organisers to justice,” he asserted.

Contrasting India’s defensive actions with Pakistan’s alleged aggression, Dubey accused Islamabad of deliberately targeting border villages and killing innocent civilians, including children.

“Pakistan must look at itself in the mirror, stop preaching on this platform, and act to protect children within its borders,” he declared, drawing applause from several delegates.

Dubey’s remarks came just days after Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif claimed before the UNGA that his country had shot down seven Indian fighter jets during a May military standoff—an assertion India has dismissed as “baseless and fabricated.”

This was not the first time Pakistan made such claims; earlier, its officials had boasted of downing six Indian jets, yet provided no verifiable proof. India has consistently maintained that no Indian aircraft were lost in the said confrontation.
