RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Monday distributed party symbols to several loyalists even as the Mahagathbandhan alliance is yet to finalise its seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

A large crowd gathered outside the residence of former Chief Minister Rabri Devi in Patna after the couple returned from Delhi following their appearance before the Rouse Avenue Court in the IRCTC case.

Several candidates who received calls from the party leadership arrived at the residence to collect their symbols. Many were seen holding the lantern symbol, but it remains unclear how many of them have officially been given party tickets.

The Election Commission on Monday issued the notification for the second phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, marking the start of the nomination process for 122 constituencies. With only three days left for candidates to file nominations for the first phase, most major political parties are yet to announce their final list of candidates.

Among those who received the RJD symbol were Sunil Singh (Parbatta), who recently quit the JD(U), and Narendra Kumar Singh alias Bogo, a veteran and multiple-term MLA from Matihani, who earlier represented the JD(U).

Sitting RJD MLAs including Bhai Virendra, Chandrashekhar Yadav (Madhepura), and Israil Mansuri (Kanti) were also seen leaving the residence after receiving the party symbol, signalling their candidature for the upcoming elections.
