Ayodhya witnessed scenes of devotion and celebration on Monday as a grand saffron flag was ceremonially hoisted atop the Shikhar of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. The event, steeped in spiritual symbolism, drew large crowds of devotees who gathered to witness the historic spectacle.
The towering flag, crafted in a right-angled triangular form, stands 10 feet tall and extends 20 feet in length. Designed with rich traditional elements, it features the radiant Sun—representing the energy, courage and divine brilliance of Bhagwan Shri Ram. An ‘Om’ symbol and an illustration of the revered Kovidara tree further enrich the sacred emblem.
Temple authorities noted that the flag mirrors the essence of Ram Rajya, reflecting ideals of dignity, unity, justice and cultural continuity. The hoisting ceremony took place atop the temple’s Shikhar, built in the classical North Indian Nagara architectural style, a hallmark of ancient temple craftsmanship.
