Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised the increasing role of women in India's security forces, declaring that "India's daughters are becoming the shield of India's security," whether in operations against Naxalites or cross-border terrorism.

Highlighting the growing representation of women in the defence sector, PM Modi said, "Today, the world is seeing the capability of Indian women in national defence. For this, the government has taken many steps in the last decade." He was addressing a public gathering while commending women's participation in India’s security and armed forces.

The Prime Minister noted the progress since 2014, stating, "Our army opened the doors of defence facilities for women for the first time. Before 2014, only 25% of the cadets in NCC were girls. Today, their number is moving towards 50%."

Calling it a historic milestone, PM Modi proudly mentioned, "Yesterday, another new history was made in the country. The first batch of women cadets passed out from NDA."

He also recounted an inspiring feat by two women naval officers who completed a 250-day global sea voyage. "They circled the world in a boat that runs on air. Not being able to see land for several weeks, bad weather, and terrible storms, they have defeated every difficulty. It shows that no matter how big the challenge, India's daughters can overcome it," PM Modi said.
